A little bit about me…

Hi, I’m NEIL.

I live and work in the heart of Oregon’s wine country. I’ve worked front of house, management, and in the cellar… I love it all. And my favorite thing to do is to share this amazing place with visitors from around the globe.

“It doesn’t get more “insider” than this!”

NW Wine Traveler was born from a strong distaste for mediocre travel advice.

Oregon has some of the best wine and most stunning scenery in the country. It deserves (as do you, dear reader) a guide worthy of this wonder. A place to get recommendations that aren’t just copied and pasted from someone else’s uninspired list. Travel itineraries that aren’t written by someone in Florida or Los Angeles. Advice from someone who knows the wine business inside and out.

As this site grows, I hope to include all wine regions in the Pacific NW. For now, we’re focusing on what I know best – the Willamette Valley.

more about me

Born and raised in Massachusetts, I made my way to the West Coast pursuing a career in music. Originally selling wine as a way to pay the bills, my love for fermentation grew into an obsession and finally into working directly for wineries in the Willamette Valley.

I spent over a decade selling wine at Trader Joe’s. Eventually I moved to wine country and found a job pouring in a tasting room. This led to work at multiple wineries and in several different capacities. I’ve spent time working production as well, working in the cellar and helping with harvest.

I live with my family on a little farm in the Dundee Hills, where you’ll find me growing apple trees, making hard cider, and playing my drums well past everyone’s bedtime

Why YOu Can Trust ME

10 Years living in the heart of wine country

The wineries, the weather, the roads, the people. They say write what you know, and I can’t argue with that.

Years of experience working in tasting rooms and wine production

I know the wine, I know the industry. And I’ve heard every question you can think of. Who better to give you the answers?

An overwhelming passion for place

You have to understand, I’m in love! Of all the places in world, I chose to live and work HERE. This is my backyard, and I can’t wait to share it.
